RESUMEN

Objective@#To explore the effects of different pretreatment agents on primary tooth dentin bonding durability.@*Methods @#Forty-two retained primary molars were selected, 24 of which were cut along the mesial and distal directions; thus, 48 samples were obtained for shear bond strength tests, and the other 18 teeth were used for nanoleakage tests. According to different pretreatments, both experimental samples were divided randomly into three groups (Group A: distilled water pretreatment group; Group B: 2% chlorhexidine pretreatment group; Group C: 10 mg/mL resveratrol pretreatment group). The test specimens were prepared, the shear bond strength was tested, and interfacial nanoleakage evaluation and scanning electron microscope observation were performed to evaluate the effects of different pretreatment agents on the bonding interface immediately and after aging for one hour with 10% sodium hypochlorite aqueous solution.@*Results @#The immediate shear bond strength results showed that there was no significant difference among the three test groups. After aging, the shear bond strength of Group C was significantly higher than that of Group A and Group B (P<0.05). After aging, the shear bond strength of Group A was significantly lower than the immediate shear bond strength (P<0.05), whereas there was no significant difference in shear bond strength before and after aging in Group B and Group C (P>0.05). For Group C, there was no significant difference in interfacial nanoleakage before and after aging. In addition, among the three groups, Group C had the lowest interfacial nanoleakage (P<0.05).@*Conclusion@# Both chlorhexidine and resveratrol pretreatment can improve the adhesion durability of deciduous dentin, but the effects of resveratrol are better than those of chlorhexidine.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Oxidative stress is the hallmark of diabetic encephalopathy, which may be caused by hyperglycaemic toxicity. We aimed to discover pharmacologic targets to restore redox homeostasis. We identified the transcription factor Nrf2 as such a target. METHODS: HT22 cells were cultured in 25 or 50 mM D-glucose with various concentrations of sulforaphane (SFN) (from 1.25 to 5.0 µM). Cell viability was tested with the Cell Counting Kit-8 assay. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) production was detected with an inverted fluorescence microscope using the dichlorodihydrofluorescein-diacetate fluorescent probe. The expression of NF-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), haem oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) at the mRNA and protein levels was detected by reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blotting. RESULT: We found that a high glucose concentration (50 mM) increased the generation of ROS, downregulated the expression of Nrf2/HO-1 and upregulated the expression of NF-κB. Moreover, HT22 cell viability significantly decreased after culture in high-glucose medium for 24, 48 and 72 h, whereas the activation of the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway using a pharmacological Nrf2 activator abrogated this high-glucose-induced toxicity. CONCLUSION: This study suggests that the activation of the Nrf2-ARE signalling pathway might be a therapeutic target for the treatment of diabetic encephalopathy.

RESUMEN

Objective To study the negative emotion regulation of sea-going seafarers, establish a regulation strategy questionnaire of sea-going seafarers' negative emotion and examine its reliability and validity. Methods Based on open-ended questionnaires and previous researches, the initial questionnaire was obtained.Randomly selected 188 sea-going seafarers,by adopting program analysis and factor analysis, the final questionnaire was determined.Tested 121 sea-going seafarers by using the final questionnaire, while 55 of them by using coping style questionnaire at the same time. After two weeks,47 of them were tested by final questionnaire again. The reliability and validity of the questionnaire were investigated during the research, and the criterion validity between the coping style questionnaire and regulation strategy questionnaire of sea-going seafarers' negative emotion was also studied. Results The factor analysis results showed that the questionnaire was composed of seeking for support, abreaction, inobservance, transfer and oppression.Cronbach α of each factors was 0.857,0.841,0.825,0.806,0.754 respectively;and Cronbach o of the entire questionnaire was 0.873.The split-half correlation coefficients were 0.697,-0.839 (P < 0.01) ; test-retest reliability coefficients were 0.706,-0.822 (P < 0.01).The correlation between subscales were-0.031,-0.459 ; and the correlation between subscales and total scale were 0.590,-0.806 (P < 0.01).Criterion validity showed that despite for the abreaction, each factor was significantly correlated with the factors of coping style questionnaire. Conclusion The sea-going seafarers' negative emotion regulation strategy questionnaire has acceptable psychometrics properties on reliability and validity.
